J.C. Chandor and Mark Wahlberg are both in the Oscar hunt this year. The writer/director has " A Most Violent Year" coming starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac, while the actor rolls with the dice with " The Gambler." And both pictures are two of the biggest unseen movies left on the calendar. And in 2016, the pair will be in the awards hunt again.
Summit Entertainment has announced that " Deepwater Horizon" will roll into cinemas on September 30, 2016. It might be a little early for Oscar consideration, but past years have seen films like " Argo" and "The Social Network" do well in that frame. And it also avoids your movie being caught in a car crash of contenders in December. Here's the official synopsis:
Based on the true events that occurred on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010, the story chronicles the courage of those who worked on the Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history. Matthew Sand and Matthew Carnahan wrote the script and production is expected to begin next year.
