Farrell hits milestone as Cabrini cruises

With history in her grasp, Kerry Anne Farrell wasted no time Saturday.
The Cabrini junior and Archbishop Prendergast graduate scored 16 seconds into the game, twice in the first 97 seconds and three times overall to top the 100 career-point mark in an 8-2 win over Marywood.
Taylor Mack added a hat trick, and Karlie Gruccio paired a goal with two helpers for the Cavs (6-3, 2-0 CSAC).
Neumann 4, Immaculata 3: Marisa Antuzzi scored in the second overtime period to lead the Knights.
Lindsey Spatola's second goal of the game, off Jessica Harrell's second assist, sent the teams to overtime with less than four minutes left. Alexa McIntyre also scored for Neumann (5-6, 3-0 CSAC), which got 11 saves from Summer Sklivas.
Haverford 3, Gettysburg 0: Jen DiMaria scored twice off assists from Catherine Aronowitz, and Aronowitz turned finisher in the second half to seal a Centennial win for the Fords (5-5, 1-2).
Widener 2, Hood 0: Brittany Lavin put home a rebound in the first half, and Kayla Herr converted a penalty stroke in the second to lead the Pride (3-7, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth).
DeSales 3, Eastern 2: Megan Bolton scored twice, and Jennifer O'Neill made seven saves, but the Eagles (5-6, 1-1 Freedom) couldn't overcome three first-half goals from the visitors.
Volleyball
It was a milestone day for Haverford, which welcomed Keri Godbe and Meg O'Day to the 1,000-kill club in 3-0 sweeps over Gettysburg and Baruch.
Godbe hit the mark with eight kills against Gettsyburg, which moved the Fords to 4-0 in the Centennial Conference. O'Day and Nina Mutty had 12 kills each in that contest, Mutty pairing hers with 13 digs.
In the nightcap, O'Day put away 13 kills to hit 1,000, while Godbe posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs for the Fords (13-7).
Swarthmore wins two: It took some clutch hitting from Sarah Wallace to keep Swarthmore undefeated in the Centennial. Wallace came up with 13 digs and buried three of her 11 kills in quick succession in the fourth set as the Garnet stormed back from down a game to top Johns Hopkins, 3-2.
Bridget Scott, the 2013 Daily Times Player of the Year from Strath Haven, led the way with 13 kills. Kate Amodei (24 digs) and Madison Heppe (22) led the defensive effort, while Sam DuBois recovered 13 digs to go with 41 assists.
It was easier for the Garnet (12-4, 4-0) in the second game, a 3-0 sweep of Neumann led by 10 kills from Wallace and nine from Chastity Hopkins.
Amanda McAleer buried 10 kills, and Danielle Kwapisz (Cardinal O'Hara) and Ali Frey collected double-digits in digs at 14 and 13, respectively, for the Knights (12-6), who also dropped a 3-0 decision to Johns Hopkins.
Eastern sweeps pair: No. 19 Eastern started out by banishing hosts Stevenson, 3-1, behind 10 kills from Katrina Pisch and nine kills and six blocks from Morgan Shemonski. The defense led the way, with Rylie Haas tallying 29 digs.
Lauren Sproles put away 11 kills, Rikki Schlager provided 35 assists and Haas did the heavy lifting with 21 digs as the Eagles (19-5) swept Lebanon Valley with three games of 25-17.
Widener takes two at MAC Crossover: Brooke Ruditys (Upper Chichester/Archmere Academy) came up big with 20 kills and 19 digs in a five-set thriller, leading Widener to a 3-2 win over FDU-Florham.
Kaitlin Schnalzer (13 kills, 12 digs) added a double-double, Sabrina Barbieri (Penncrest All-Delco) added 14 digs and 46 assists, and Victoria Miller picked up 27 digs for the Pride.
Ruditys and Schnalzer tucked away nine kills each, and Miller collected 13 digs as the Pride (4-15) eased by Delaware Valley, 3-0, in the nightcap.
PSU-Brandywine claims two: The Delco Lions faced little resistance, finishing off a 3-0 win over PSU-Lehigh Valley with a 25-3 win. Kelsi Wiest (Sun Valley) paired 11 digs with six kills, Miranda Biondi (Marple Newtown) dished 18 assists and Nicole Poissant (Cardinal O'Hara) added seven kills.
The Lions (11-7, 7-2 PSUAC) didn't let PSU-Hazleton into double-figures in any game of the nightcap, led by 18 assists from Biondi and 13 from Poissant.
Pitt-Johnstown 3, Cheyney 0: Brenna Joseph had five kills, and Akia Harris came up with six digs for the visiting Wolves (1-14, 0-9).
Butler 3, Villanova 0: Lauren Carpenter buried 12 kills to go with 11 digs, and Emma Pettit collected 13 digs to complement her 24 assists, but it wasn't enough for the Wildcats (9-11, 2-3 Big East).
Men's Soccer
Saturday's dedication of the Higgins Soccer Complex promised to make for a memorable day for Villanova.
Aaron Dennis and Hayden Harr made sure the soccer lived up to the festive atmosphere.
The seniors collected two goals and an assist each as the Wildcats stormed past DePaul, 4-0.
Harr opened the scoring off a feed from Dennis in the seventh minutes, and they combined in reverse order to cap the scoring in the 44th, the culmination of a four-goal, first-half onslaught.
Chris Hill and Christopher Bared collected assists, and Will Steiner made two saves to preserve the shutout for Villanova (5-4-1, 1-1 Big East).
Cabrini 2, Centenary 1: The Cavaliers left it late, but a goal by Bobby Kane (Haverford High) with 40 seconds left pushed the game to overtime for John Underwood to score the game-winner.
Mohammed Konneh (Academy Park) set up the winner, and R.J. Pino (Marple Newtown) made five saves for the Cavs (7-4, 3-0 CSAC).
Neumann 3, Cairn 2: Jake McDevitt's second goal of the game in the first overtime period earned the Knights the win. Zach DiDonato had opened the scoring for Neumann (2-7-1, 2-0 CSAC).
Eastern 1, FDU-Florham 0: Jamie Stratton made six saves to keep a clean sheet, making sure Eric Giovagnoli's fifth-minute strike from 25 yards held up for the Eagles (8-2)
Haverford 2, Gettysburg 0: Ben Field broke open a scoreless game in the 74th minute off a feed from Brady Seitz, and Seitz was the finisher seven minutes later for the Fords (6-3, 3-1 Centennial).
Women's Soccer
Tonia Russo scored off a feed from Emily Sanders, and Alexa DeRose sealed a win with her late free-kick goal to see Neumann past Centenary, 2-0.
Briana King stopped the only shot she faced for the shutout for Neumann (3-6, 3-2 CSAC).
Cabrini 2, Immaculata 0: Devon Miller (Marple Newtown) and Meghan Martin scored as the Cavaliers (5-6, 4-0 CSAC) stayed unbeaten in the league.
Gettysburg 1, Haverford 0: Robin Chernow made six saves, but she and the Fords (4-3-2, 0-2 Centennial) couldn't recover from a 10th-minute goal by the visitors.
Messiah 5, Widener 0: The Pride (3-5-2, 0-1) got a rude welcome to MAC Commonwealth play with a drubbing at the hands of the undefeated No. 2 team in the nation.
FDU-Florham 2, Eastern 1: Emily Cole scored in the ninth minute, but the Eagles (3-9, 0-1 MAC Freedom) couldn't hang onto the lead.
Cross Country
Haverford's Charlie Marquardt covered eight kilometers in 25 minutes, 7 seconds, good for ninth out of 341 runners at the Paul Short Run to help Haverford claim second place out of 40 teams.
David Roza (25:16) and Joel Christian (25:26) were 13th and 17th, respectively, for the Fords.
A spot of ahead of Marquardt was Widener's Ernie Pitone (Cardinal O'Hara All-Delco) in 25:02, helping the Pride finish fourth. Chris Garrity (Cardinal O'Hara All-Delco) was 24th, and Will McDermott (Bonner-Prendergast All-Delco) took 35th.
Swarthmore's Sid Kakkar took 40th place in 25:52, followed closely by Paul Green (42nd), Erick White (43rd) and Jonas Oppenheimer (49th) as Swarthmore finished fifth.
In the women's race, Nora Weathers of Haverford covered six kilometers in 22:41 to take 42nd place and pace the Fords to eighth.
Liz Tawa's 30th-place result, in a time of 22:30, fueled Swarthmore to 16th place.
Tiernan wins Washington Invitational: Villanova sophomore Patrick Tiernan finished first out of 96 runners, covering eight kilometers in 23:00 to win the Washington Invitational in Seattle. Brian Basili finished 22nd, and Harry Warnick claimed 28th for the Wildcats, which finished sixth as a team.
The Wildcats women finished seventh, with Siofra Cleirigh Buttner finishing in 20:54 and Angel Piccirillo a second behind.
